     a. ENHANCEMENT UPGRADE.  An enhancement upgrade occurred Saturday, 22 July through Sunday, 23 July 2023. Your Soldiers will notice this update has changed the look and feel of the IPPS-A homepage, search functionality, and navigation tools.

     b. MONTGOMERY GI BILL. Effective 5 January 2023, Regular Army Soldiers are no longer able to make their 38 USC, Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty (MGIB-AD) “opt into” or “opt out of” selection at their Basic Training Reception Battalion because of an amendment to the program’s law. Once in effect, Regular Army Soldiers must wait until they reach 180 days after their Basic Active Service Date (BASD) before they can make this selection (via DD Form 2366) and will have up to 90 days (270 days after their BASD) after this open enrollment period to make their decision. I would like to request your help in ensuring that our new Soldiers are aware of their responsibility to make their selections. The 90-day mark is fast approaching, and we encourage you and your leaders to reach out to your new Soldiers before they lose out on this benefit.

     c. ENTERPRISE EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY MEMBER PROGRAM (E-EFMP). EFMP screening is a requirement to receive PCS orders, especially OCONUS assignments, to prevent EFMP delays. The Family Member Travel Screening (FMTS) process is now inside of E-EFMP, when in the past paper forms were completed as part of the Levy process. All Soldiers with dependents going on an OCONUS assignment must complete FMTS before they can get orders.

     d. REDEFINING PAY ACCURACY. IPPS-A is redefining pay accuracy for the Army. This new system is performing Military Pay (MilPay) functionality by interfacing directly with the Defense Joint Military Pay System (DJMS). For pay transactions executed within IPPS-A, validating that the correct Soldier was paid the correct amount is achievable within 72 hours.

     e. SOLDIER TALENT PROFILE (STP). IPPS-A’s STP is a way to enhance Army Readiness by maximizing the potential of the Army’s greatest asset — the Soldier. We are still experiencing challenges with STPs omitting or relaying inaccurate data…. We know how important this issue is to your Soldiers, and will continue to provide more information as we continue to make progress.

     f. WORKFLOW UPDATE. Please ensure your units are aware that we are updating the Access Request workflow to meet audit requirements. Soldiers now have to add their supervisor to their Access Request, as the supervisor should know what level of access their Soldier needs to complete their mission.

     g. INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING ENVIRONMENT (ITE). Please ensure your Soldiers are aware of the training opportunities offered by the IPPS-A ITE. The IPPS-A ITE provides a hands-on training database for Enlisted Soldiers attending Advanced Individual Training (AIT), Advanced Leader Course (ALC), and Senior Leader Course (SLC) at the Soldier Support Institute (SSI). It is a copy of the live/real IPPS-A system, but with mock data.

2. WORKPLACE AND GENDER RELATIONS SURVEY. From the Army G-9:  Active, reserve and National Guard Soldiers can now take the Workplace and Gender Relations Survey to share their experiences with sexual harassment, sexual assault and gender discrimination in the military. Command teams and SHARP professionals should encourage Soldiers to complete this important voluntary survey and give them time during the day to do so. Results affect Army programs and policy. 3. (USAR) TUITION ASSISTANCE – RESOLVED. From the Chief, Army Reserve (CAR): The Army Reserve has resolved the temporary outage of the Tuition Assistance funding that impacted some of our Soldiers earlier this week. Funding is available and there should be no lapse in any Army Reserve Soldier’s ability to register for courses and use their educational benefits.
