1. RETIREMENT ORDERS
UPDATE. From FSD, HRC: In January 2023, the Army G-1 approved a
temporary Exception to Policy (ETP) that provided Soldiers the ability
to request retirement up to 24 months in advance, the current policy
provides a 12-month request window. The ETP was designed to provide
greater predictability for transitioning Soldiers while also enabling
the Army to better forecast annual losses. Shortly after the IPPS-A
Brown Out Cut Over (BOCO) period (September 2022 - January 2023) HRC
experienced an influx of retirement requests as Soldiers and units
learned the new systems, this resulted in an increase in the number of
retirement request in the cue. In response, HRC is surging additional
personnel to process requests, streamlining procedures to reduce
processing times, and prioritizing actions by retirement/separation
dates. Currently, retirement orders for enlisted Soldiers are approved
approximately 12-months from the requested retirement date and officer
retirement orders are approved approximately six months from requested
retirement date. With the surge of personnel to support the processing
of retirement requests HRCs goal over the next 6 months, to return to a
sustainable level where all retirement requests are approved at least 12

Management Directorate: USAR G-1/S-1 Communities, All USAR personnel
should review their Mandatory Retirement Date (MRD) or Expiration Term
of Service (ETS) in IPPS-A for accuracy. With the data transition from
multiple legacy systems to IPPS-A, MRD/ETS may reflect erroneous dates.
To ensure correct MRD/ETS data in IPPS-A, personnel should access the
