1. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE MEDICAL RETIREMENT CALCULATORS. From Army Retirement Services:  The Department of Defense recently developed Medical Retirement Calculators designed to assist service members in projecting their income after completion of the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) process. The calculators estimate medical separation or retirement benefits based on DoD disability percentage or years of service under the Blended Retirement System (BRS), High-36 (High-3), Final Pay, or REDUX retired pay plans. To access, visit the following link. 2. 2024 U.S. ARMY RETIRED SOLDIER HANDBOOK AND UPDATED RETIRED SOLDIER CASUALTY ASSISTANCE CHECKLIST. The new 2024 U.S. Army Retired Soldier Handbook is live on the Soldier for Life website. The Retired Soldier Handbook outlines military status after retirement, discusses retirement benefits and privileges, and provides other information which may be helpful to Retired Soldiers, surviving spouses and their families. There is also an updated fillable and/or printable version of the Retired Soldier Casualty Assistance Checklist, to assist family members in the event of a Soldier's death. This directive rescinds AD 2018-07-3 paragraph 3a, establishing subsequent command inspections as a critical component of the Army inspection principles. Effective immediately, pursuant to AR 1–201, subsequent command inspections are required as a critical component of the Army inspection principles to measure progress and to reinforce the goals and standards established during initial command inspections. The first general officer in the chain of command may waive the requirement for subsequent command inspections. 6. This MILPER message rescinds MILPER Message Number 23-007 and all previous MILPER messages related to Federal Officer Candidate School (OCS) and applies to fiscal year (FY) 2024 and 2025 OCS mission requirements and Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) OCS selection panels.
