Family SGLI: Automatic Enrollment

If you get married while in the military, your spouse is automatically covered for up to $100,000 by Family Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance unless you :
- are married to a fellow Servicemember
- elect a lesser amount of coverage, or
- decline coverage


Premiums for your spouse's coverage will be automatically deducted from your pay. Your spouse must be registered in DEERS for the correct premium amount to be deducted. From HRC Awards and Decorations Branch: Effective immediately the IG Identification Badge (IGIB) is awarded to Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians who have served with distinction for a period of 12 months in a Detailed or Assistant Inspector General position. The IGIB will come after the Instructor Identification Badge in order of precedence and will be worn on the wearer’s right side for United States Army Utility, Service, and Dress Uniforms.      a. ARMY RESERVE PAY MESSAGE 22-01, DEFERRED OASDI TAX COLLECTIONS UPDATE. A Presidential Memorandum was issued on 8 August 2020 in order to provide relief during the COVID-19 pandemic, to temporarily defer military members’ 6.2% Social Security (Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance) or OASDI tax withholdings from September thru December 2020, if your monthly basic pay rate was less than $8,666.66.  Collections for the deferred tax withholdings were made between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021 at the rate of 2% of disposable pay.  Due to the irregular and intermittent nature of duty, about half of the Reserve Soldiers have a remaining balance; therefore, the collection rate will increase to 10% of disposable pay from each payment received during 2022 until the deferred tax balance is paid in full. https://www.milsuite.mil/book/docs/DOC-1093162
