  1. NGB 34-1 (dated 20131111) must be complete with original signature and memos (Must submit explanation memos for yes selections except for question #9 and #17).
  2. Photocopy of last 3 NCOERs (Must submit memos for gaps in NCOERs and Service Members with DOR less than 3 years).
  3. Report from ATIS showing passing AFT and Height/Weight within the last six months (DA 705 and DA 5500/5501 accepted in lieu of ATIS report)
  4. Copy of Soldier Talent Profile (STP) w/ ASVAB scores dated within 3 months.
  5. DA 5016 from My Retirement Points tile on IPPS-A or most recent NGB 23A (RPAM) from iPERMS
  6. Security verification memo dated within the last 3 months
  7. Medical Protection System Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) dated within the last 12 months.
  8. Copy of all DD214’s / NGB 22’s showing all prior service.
  9. Profiles must be attached if applicable. Pregnancy itself is not a disqualifier.
  10. Exception to Policy (ETP) memo for AGR Soldiers who are under 36 months in their current assignment. Does not apply for promotion opportunity announcements

POSITION COMPATIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The individual(s) must qualify for and be placed in the following compatible MOS/AOC: 91A

MINIMUM APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must become 92A MOS qualified within 12 months of hire.
  2. Must possess a current Secret clearance.
  3. PCS funds subject to availability.
  4. Per the COARNG AGR Stabilization Policy dated 27 May 2025, AGR Soldiers serving less than 36 months in their current assignment are ineligible for application unless the announcement pertains to a promotion opportunity or an Exception to Policy Memo (ETP) is attached with application.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Special Forces Battalion Forward Support Company Maintenance NCO

Position Overview

Serves as the senior maintenance manager for the Forward Support Company supporting a Special Forces Battalion. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all field-level maintenance operations across motor pool assets, weapons, communications equipment, and specialized SOF mobility platforms. Advises the FSC Commander, First Sergeant, and Battalion S–4 on maintenance readiness impacts, ensuring company and battalion elements remain fully mission capable.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees daily maintenance operations within the FSC motor pool, ensuring all scheduled and unscheduled services are performed to standard.
  • Tracks equipment readiness, service intervals, and fault resolution; maintains accurate data within GCSS-Army and reports status to Battalion S–4 and FSC leadership.
  • Coordinates with ODA Team Sergeants, Company leadership, and battalion maintenance personnel to identify and prioritize maintenance tasks supporting SOF operations.
  • Ensures proper troubleshooting, repair, and verification of faults on tactical wheeled vehicles, generators, trailers, small arms, comms gear, and specialty SOF mobility equipment.
  • Manages parts ordering, supply reconciliation, and shop stock levels; ensures timely procurement and accountability of Class IX repair parts.
  • Enforces safety standards, environmental regulations, and proper use of tools, equipment, and facilities.
  • Develops maintenance SOPs, service schedules, and quality-assurance systems to improve efficiency and readiness across the company.
  • Oversees technical inspections, dispatching procedures, equipment records, and maintenance documentation in accordance with Army and USASOC standards.
  • Supports deployment preparation by validating equipment serviceability, load plans, dispatch packets, PLL readiness, and mission-essential equipment configurations.
  • Ensures weapons maintenance readiness across company personnel; coordinates armorer operations and periodic inspections.
  • Advises the FSC Commander and senior NCOs on maintenance trends, fleet health, and operational impacts.
  • Trains and mentors junior mechanics, maintainers, and support Soldiers on diagnostics, proper repair techniques, and maintenance management systems.
  • Coordinates with external support agencies, installation shops, and sustainment brigades for higher-level maintenance or specialized repairs.

Key Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of GCSS-Army, ULLS, technical manuals, and Army maintenance doctrine.
  • Strong mechanical proficiency across SOF-assigned vehicles, weapons, generators, and mobility equipment.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills across multiple companies and staff sections.
  • Ability to maintain high readiness standards in dynamic, fast-paced operational environments.
