- NGB 34-1 (dated 20131111) must be complete with original signature and memos (Must submit explanation memos for yes selections except for question #9 and #17).
- Security Clearance Verification Memo
- Photocopy of last 3 NCOERs.
- Medical Protection System Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) dated within the last 12 months.
- Report from ATIS showing passing AFT and Height/Weight within the last six months (DA 705 and DA 5500/5501 accepted in lieu of ATIS report)
- DA 5016 from My Retirement Points tile on IPPS-A or most recent NGB 23A (RPAM) from iPERMS
- Soldier Talent Profile (STP)
- Copy of all DD214’s / NGB 22’s showing all prior service.
- Exception to Policy (ETP) memo for current COARNG AGR Soldiers who are under 36 months in their current assignment.
- Profiles must be attached if applicable. Pregnancy itself is not a disqualifier.

The individual(s) must qualify for and be placed in the following compatible MOS/AOC: 42A
MINIMUM APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 42A MOS qualified.
- Must have current Secret Clearance
- PCS funds subject to availability.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Major Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the Human Resources Sergeant and Assistant NCOIC for a forward-deployed and garrison Special Forces Battalion (Airborne); supervises, trains, and mentors junior Human Resources Specialists (42A) in administrative operations and career development; manages the processing of all personnel actions, including awards, evaluations (OERs/NCOERs), promotions, leaves, and casualty operations for over 400 Special Forces and support personnel [1, 2]; oversees the unit’s strength management, personnel accountability, and Joint Personnel Status and Casualty Reporting (JPERSTAT) during deployments; coordinates directly with the Special Forces Group (Airborne) S1 and Human Resources Command (HRC) to resolve complex personnel issues.
2. Special Forces Specific Responsibilities
Specialized Pay Administration: Manages and audits the tracking of Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay (HDIP) for airborne operations, Military Free Fall (MFF) pay, Demolition Pay, and the Foreign Language Proficiency Bonus (FLPB) [3].
Operational Security (OPSEC) & Clearance Coordination:
- Coordinates with the Battalion S2 to monitor and maintain Secret and Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance eligibility for all assigned tactical and operational personnel.
- Deployment Readiness: Manages the deployment processing (SRP) and individual readiness folders for Operational Detachments-Alpha (ODAs) and Support Detachments deploying to multiple geographic combatant commands.
3. Daily/Weekly Duties
- Monitors and executes transactions within the Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A) to ensure real-time data accuracy.
- Reviews and quality-controls all administrative actions, ensuring compliance with AR 600-8 (Military Personnel Management) [1].
- Directs the Battalion’s evaluation tracking system, ensuring zero-delinquency rates for Officer Evaluation Reports (OERs) and Noncommissioned Officer Evaluation Reports (NCOERs) [4].
- Conducts weekly strength briefings for the Battalion Commander, Command Sergeant Major, and Company Commanders.
- Maintains accountability of the section’s assigned equipment, including tactical communication systems and office automation assets valued in excess of $150,000.
