April 3, 2026

1.  This MILPER message will expire one year after release and applies
to active duty Soldiers. Guidance on Reserve Component Mobilization to
Dwell policy is located in DoDI 1235.12.

2.  Dwell time is
the time a unit, detachment, or individual is not on a deployment.
Individual dwell time reflects the time a Soldier is not on a
deployment, while unit dwell time reflects the time an entire unit is
not on a deployment. The Army uses dwell time to safeguard Soldiers from
repetitive exposure to deployments unless required by operational
necessity. Dwell time protections do not apply to unit training events,
exercises, or mission support temporary duty.
