a. INFO PAPER – EXPIRATION DATES ENFORCED – WEAPONS QUALIFICATION. This
info paper provides guidance to Soldiers and HR Professionals as to the
enforcement of expiration dates related to Weapon Qualifications within
the Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A). Effective with
01 May 2024 promotion month, Soldiers will lose promotion points under
their Weapon Qualification if date is greater than the policy cited
within AR 600-8-19, Paragraph 3-15, Sub-Paragraph a, (2). Qualification
scores exceeding 24 months will not be awarded promotion points. The
loss of these promotion points will not be grounds to seek an

b. JOB AID – CDR MEMO SAMPLE – EXTEND WEAPON OR ACFT DATE – DES OR NOT
ASSIGNED WEAPON. In accordance with AR 600-8-19, Soldiers assigned to an
organization without an assigned primary weapon will use their latest
qualification as an exception to the 24-month requirement, and Soldiers
within the Disability Evaluation System (DES) who are unable to perform a
physical fitness test or qualify with a weapon will use their last
score until they are medically cleared to take the physical fitness test
or qualify with a weapon. Attached at the following link is a sample
memo for commanders to sign and submit to their Unit DTMS Manager
authorizing the update of the date of the last qualification/ACFT in
