1. This MILPER message will expire no later than (NLT) 1 July 2027. 


2. The U.S. Futures and Concepts Command (FCC) Emerging Technology Opportunities, Army Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C) is accepting applications to attend the Army Artificial Intelligence Technician Program (AI Technician Program), for Academic Year 2027-2028.
 

3. We are seeking Soldiers who possess knowledge, skills, and behaviors, or a strong interest in cloud development operations and engineering, data engineering, and python coding to support delivering AI solutions at speed in support of Army missions. The AI Technician Program application deadline is 31 August 2026 for Cohort 27. 


4. The Army AI Technician Program is an immersive 36-month program that combines a 32-week Artificial Intelligence Cloud Administration, Programming with Python, Data Engineering, and other certifications at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, combined with 20-weeks applied study at the AI Applications Group, followed by 12-month hands on experience and utilization with AI2C, and a 12-month operational assignment as directed by the FCC Commander or their designee. The program seeks service members who have demonstrated outstanding promotion potential. Officers (commissioned / warrant) and noncommissioned officers striving to be front-runners in preparing the operational force for AI-enabled capabilities are encouraged to apply for the AI Technician Program. Commanders and supervisors are also encouraged to submit their best candidates for this opportunity based on the outstanding potential and aptitude for service in the emerging technology environment. Soldiers completing all AI Technician Program requirements are awarded an Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) 2V – AI Technician, upon completion of their utilization at AI2C.

6. In accordance with (IAW) reference L, Enlisted Soldiers attending the AI Technicians Program at AI2C incur a 36-month service-remaining requirement (SRR) that begins on graduation from the education program on or about 10 July 2028 (SRR ends on 09 July 2031). Enlisted Soldiers must reenlist or extend prior to PCS to meet SRR obligation. Indefinite Soldiers will not be afforded voluntary retirement until their service obligation is complete. Officers incur a three-for-one (3:1) active-duty service obligation (ADSO) computed in days, for each day in the education program. IAW reference A, the ADSO equals three times the length of schooling, computed in days starting on the last day of the education program, on or about 10 July 2028. Both Enlisted and Officer Personnel must complete educational program requirements and obtain their certifications in order to be awarded the 2V ASI.  Failure to adequately progress in training or utilization may result in release to the needs of the Army. 


7. The Army AI Technician Program is designed and intended for Compo 1, Active-Duty participants. Highly qualified Reserve component Soldiers may apply and may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the AI2C Director.


8. Applications will not be considered for personnel that have complete 15 years of Active Federal Service as of 10 July 2026.
