1. This MILPER Message will expire NLT 9 July 2027.
2. Applicability. The provisions below apply to United States Regular Army (COMPO1), the United States Army Reserve (COMPO3) Active/Guard Reserve (AGR), Troop Program Unit (TPU), and Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA).
3. Purpose. This message confirms the application procedures for potential accession to the Talent Acquisition Technician (420T) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).
4. Assessment and Selection Process: All applicants will undergo an Army Suitability Screening conducted by the Army G-1. Upon successful completion, the proponent will perform a comprehensive file review to identify candidates who meet the technical qualifications. Based on the Warrant Officer Selection Board (WOSB) results and Proponent’s comprehensive file review for warrant officers, an Order of Merit List (OML) will determine which candidates may be selected to attend the in-person assessment at Fort Knox, Kentucky. *Note Submission of a packet does not guarantee selection for the WOSB or the in-person assessment.
a. A MILPER will be published to inform the candidates best suited to attend the multi-day in-person assessment o/a March 2027 at Fort Knox, KY. Those selected personnel are authorized to proceed one day prior if CONUS and three days prior if OCONUS. The Army will convene a selection panel o/a April-May 2027 to identify qualified personnel, and a MILPER will be published announcing the results.
b. All 420T selects must be prepared and able to attend multiple TDYs within 180 days of selection and for USAR candidates, accession into the AGR program, if not already a part of the program.
5. Program Overview: Selected applicants will attend the Warrant Officer Candidate Course (if applicable) at Fort Rucker, AL, and the 420T Warrant Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, Kentucy. The MOS 420T will be awarded upon completion of the 420T WOBC. TDY to WOCS and WOBC is funded through home-unit Military Training Specific Allotment (MTSA) funds.
6. USAR AGR NCOs may apply for USAR WO 420T and remain in the USAR AGR Program throughout Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS) if selected. Upon completion of WOCS, these Soldiers will be accessed into the USAR AGR Program as a USAR AGR WO.
7. All Soldiers that graduate from WOCS will incur the normal 6-year Military Service Obligation (MSO) required upon becoming a warrant officer (Active & USAR). Those in the USAR must also be willing to incur an initial 3-year Service Obligation (SO) in the AGR program. This SO will run concurrently with your Military Service Obligation (6 years) if newly appointed as a warrant officer. USAR Soldiers, unwilling to incur a 3-year SO in the Active/Guard Reserve Program will not be selected for 420T.
8. Eligibility:
a. Warrant Officer branch transfers are currently only being accepted for USAR Aviation-branch warrant officers impacted by ATI (see MOS list below).
b. Branch transfers are not accepted for Active-Duty Warrant Officers currently.
c. Applicants who have attended the in-person assessment twice for MOS 420T are not eligible to submit.
d. Requirements.
(1) NCOs.
(a) Must meet general and administrative eligibility requirements listed at https://recruiting.army.mil/ISO/AWOR/BASIC_QUALIFICATION/. Applicants should refer to AR 135-100, para 1-6, AR 350-1, para 3-13, and AR 611-110, para 2-1 for additional details or visit https://recruiting.army.mil/ISO/AWOR/qualifications_MOSlist/ for more information under “Basic qualifications to apply for Army Warrant Officer.”
(b) Warrant Officer Prerequisites list for 420T can be located on the Warrant Officer Recruiting Website under “Do I Qualify” then WO MOS Feeder List or at the following https://recruiting.army.mil/ISO/AWOR/420T/.
(2) Warrant Officers (USAR Only)
(a) Applicants must be in the grade of WO1-CW3.
(b) Applicants must be a Warrant Officer Basic Course graduate.
(c) Applicants must be in an Aviation MOS that is affected by ATI (150A, 151A, 153A, 153D, 153M, 154F).
(d) Applicants must have an approved branch release (Proponent or Branch Manager) by memo or email.
(e) Warrant Officers must meet the experience prerequisites list for 420T.
9. All applicants selected to attend in-person assessment and selection must meet the Army’s personnel suitability screening and an in-person Recruiting Candidate Assessment (RCA) requirements before being considered a fully qualified candidate (AR 601-1, App B).
10. Application Submission.
a. Enlisted (Only).

The application deadline is 21 September 2026 to Warrant Officer Recruiting Company.
(2) For USAR: Follow the detailed instructions for applying at https://recruiting.army.mil/ISO/AWOR/Active-Guard-Reserve/, send an email to ARCG per the instructions at the link, and complete the 420T Interest Questionnaire at https://forms.osi.apps.mil/r/5fibiifSWQ. The application deadline is 21 September 2026 to ARCG.
(3) Waivers and Exception to Policy (ETP): Enlisted applicants will follow the Warrant Officer Recruiting Company application instructions. A separate waiver will be required for each prerequisite not met. Submission of a waiver does not constitute automatic approval.
b. Warrant Officers (USAR Only).
(1) Send an email to: usarmy.knox.usarec.mbx.rrc-wo-proponent@army.mil. State that you are interested in 420T and confirm completion of the 420T Interest Form: https://forms.osi.apps.mil/r/5fibiifSWQ.
(2) Create a packet for submission to the Army Reserve Career Group at usarmy.usarc.arcg.mbx.hq-ops-spcmsn-organizational-mailbox@army.mil CC: 420T WO Proponent at usarmy.knox.usarec.mbx.rrc-wo-proponent@army.mil The application deadline is 21 September 2026 to Warrant Officer Recruiting Company.
c. Packets will include:
(1) Branch Release Memo confirming the branch is willing to release the applicant to 420T if selected. If disapproved, the request ends.
(2) DA Form 4187, signed by the first O6 in the chain of command. If disapproved at any level, the request ends.
() Minimum 1 page signed MFR documenting qualifications, education, background, and experience explaining how the applicant would be an asset to the 420T field. Include:
