On behalf of the DoD and the Washington Military
Department it is our pleasure to share and acknowledge that DoD
recognizes 19 Jun, as Juneteenth National Independence Day Observance
(see attached memo).
It
is during this day we recognize the end of African American slavery in
our country and celebrate the resilience, resistance and liberation of
the African American community and their service to our nation.
