2. The Angels of the Battlefield Award, sponsored by the Armed Services Young Men’s Christian Association (ASYMCA) of the United States, is an annual award that recognizes one outstanding enlisted medical professional from each branch of the Armed Forces. This award honors military medical personnel and first responders for their life-saving medical treatment and compassionate care on the front lines or during emergency situations.
3. The 2026 Angels of the Battlefield Very Important Person (VIP) Breakfast, Awards Ceremony, and Reception will take place on 23 September 2026 at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Conference and Event Center, located at 2425 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia 22201.
The sequence of events for the ceremony is detailed below:
a. 0900 – 1030: Very Important Person (VIP) Breakfast
b. 1030 – 1130: Awards Ceremony and Presentation
c. 1130 – 1230: Reception
4. Eligibility. Nominees must meet the following criteria to be considered for this award:
a. Enlisted personnel in pay grades E–1 through E–7
.
b. Nominees must have been on Active Duty at the time of the recognized event, currently be on Active Duty, and remain on Active Duty through October 2026.
c. The life-saving action or event being recognized must have occurred after 1 January 2023.
5. Required Nomination Packet Components. All submitted packets must contain the following components:
a. Nominating Letter: Signed by the Commanding Officer or a Commissioned Officer in the member’s direct chain of command.
b. Honoree Questionnaire: Completed in full.
c. Command Contact Cover Sheet: Completed with contact information.
d. Commanding Officer’s Endorsement: Required if the nominating officer is not the unit’s Commanding Officer.
e. Narrative of Action: A detailed narrative describing life-saving action. If the action resulted in a military award, include a copy of the official award narrative and citation.
f. Higher Headquarters Endorsements: Endorsements from higher headquarters in the chain of command (Optional).
g. Forwarding Letter: A forwarding letter from the Service Surgeon General or equivalent.
h. Professional Summary: A complete list of the honoree’s education, military training, service assignments, and awards.
i. Honoree Biography: A professional biography restricted to one page.
j. Official Portrait: A high-resolution, color photo of the member wearing the Service Dress Uniform with Cover, capable of printing up to an 8 × 10 size
6. Packet submission. The final packages are due on 17 July 2026 and will be submitted to the following email address: usarmy.jbsa.medcom-hq.mbx.medcom-awards@army.mil.
