1. Applicability
This message announces the United States Army Reserve (USAR) Fixed Wing Aviator Warrant Officer (WO) selection board and will expire one year from publication.
a. In FY27, USAR will continue accepting in-service members only. USAR will retain the Warrant Officer Flight Training program (“street-to-seat” or “high school-to-flight school”) for non-prior service (NPS) civilians, however, will not select applications for FY27 (program is being evaluated for future accessions).
b. There is no USAR accessions requirement for 150A – Air Traffic and Space Management Technician, 151A – Aviation Maintenance Technician, and 153A – Rotary-Wing Aviator.
c. This message is effective upon release and will expire NLT 30 September 2027.
2. All eligible applicants are evaluated by the HQDA WO selection board, convened at HQs, United States Army Recruiting Division (USARD). Those selected will be scheduled for Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS) and the appropriate Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC).
3. The Army Warrant Officer is a technical expert, combat leader, trainer, and advisor. Through progressive levels of expertise in assignments, training, and education, the warrant officer administers, manages, maintains, operates, and integrates Army systems and equipment across unified land operations. Warrant officers are innovative integrators of emerging technologies, dynamic teachers, confident warfighters, and developers of specialized teams of Soldiers. They support a wide range of Army missions throughout their career. Warrant officers in the Army are accessed with specific levels of technical ability. They refine their technical expertise and develop their leadership and management skills through tiered progressive assignments and education.
4. Board Timelines
a. The board convenes on 25 January 2027.
b. Applicants must submit complete applications to the local United States Army Reserve Careers Group (USARCG) Officer Accessions NCO (OANCO) no later than (NLT) 27 November 2026.
c. USARCG OANCOs must submit completed applications via TEAMs to USARCG HQ NLT 1700 Eastern Standard Time, 11 December 2026. The OANCO will inform the applicant via army.mil email when they submit the application to USARCG HQ.
d. Processing time for medical and tattoo waivers can take up to eight weeks. Ensure early submittal of packets requiring these waivers. There is no guarantee of waiver approval in time for the board and only applications with approved waivers are boarded.
e. Incomplete applications, or applications received after the above due dates, will be returned without action.
5. Responsibilities
a. USARCG is responsible for providing Soldiers with application checklist, waiver checklists, and sample forms. The applicant has the primary responsibility for correctly completing the application. USARCG will provide administrative support and guidance.
b. USARCG will ensure that applicants meet the minimum administrative qualifications and minimum proponent requirements per the U.S Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) official website. https://recruiting.army.mil/ISO/AWOR/qualifications_MOSlist/.
c. Applicants will include all waiver requests in the application. USARCG will process all medical, moral, age, and tattoo waivers.
d. The Army Aviation Center of Excellence and Proponent will review all applications and provide USARCG with a memo stating the Soldier’s technical qualification determination.
e. USAREC, USARD and USARCG will conduct the selection board. The
selection board recorder will create an Order of Merit List (OML). USARD will publish the USAR Fixed Wing Aviator Warrant Officer Selection Board results NLT 15 days after the board closure.
6. General Qualifications
Applicants should refer to AR 135-100, para 1-6, AR 350-1, para 3-13 and AR 611-110, para 2-1 for additional details or visit www.gowarrantnow.com for more information.
a. Minimum Army General Technical (GT) score of 110 or higher. Soldiers may take the Army Forces Classification Test (AFCT) to improve their score. (No waiver)
b. Be a U.S. citizen. (No waiver)
c. High school graduate or general education diploma (GED) equivalent. (No waiver)
d. Adjudicated Secret or higher security clearance. (No waiver)
e. In compliance with Army height and weight standards IAW AR 600-9. (No waiver)
f. Have a passing score on last record standard 5 event AFT, including 2-mile run (no restrictions or alternate events).
g. DA Form 705 must be included in all applications. Effective 01 October 2025, AFT must be taken within 6 months of packet submission.
h. Able to complete the 6.2-mile foot march with 48 lbs. ruck sack or 30% of body weight, within course timeline parameters.
i. Applicants must be worldwide deployable IAW AR 40-501.
j. In compliance with the Army’s tattoo, branding, and body mutilation policy IAW reference H.
k. Must pass a Class I Flying Duty Medical Examination as approved by the U.S. Army Aeromedical Activity (USAAMA) Fort Rucker, AL per AR 40-501 and DoDI 6130.03 within 9 months of the board date. Applicants may request a medical waiver.
7. Technical Qualifications and Prerequisites

a. Must not exceed 8 years of active federal service (AFS) at time the DA Form 61 is signed by applicant. Commissioned Officers have less than 48 months of active federal commissioned service (AFCS) at the time of the selection board.
b. Must be between the age of 18 and 32 years old at the time of board selection. Those who will be 33 or older at the time of appointment must request an age waiver.
c. Achieve a score of 40 or higher on the Selection Instrument for Flight Training (SIFT). One retest is permitted after a 45-day waiting period.
d. Must have at least 12 months remaining on contract.
8. Administrative Requirements
a. First level UCMJ authority signature in block 41 of DA Form 61 is required.
b. Must be of good moral character. Applicants may request a conduct waiver.
(1) In accordance with (IAW) AD 2020-09, a conduct waiver is required when a court has convicted or imposed another type of adverse disposition (such as community service) for offenses identified in the enclosures.
(2) ARCG Battalion commanders are the approval authority for 100, 200, and 300 level offenses. Waivers are not required for 100 level traffic violations where the fine amount is under $100.
(3) All Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) actions require a conduct waiver.
(4) Major misconduct offenses require a GO endorsement. Director of Military Personnel Management (DMPM) is the approval authority for 400 level offenses.
9. Physical fitness support section. Effective 01 July 2026, all applications must contain the following fitness statement in block 41 of the DA Form 61: “I certify that (applicant’s name) successfully passed the Army Fitness Test, maximum dead lift (MDL), hand- release push-up (HRP), sprint/drag/carry (SDC), plank (PLK), and 2-mile run (2MR) with (score), on (date). The verified height was (inches) and verified waist was (inches). (Applicant’s name) is within Army body composition standard according to AR 600-9 with a verified WHtR of less than and not equal to 0.55.” AFT date must not exceed 6 months at the time of application submission
10. Exception to Policy Waivers
a. USARCG OANCOs will advise applicants and provide appropriate checklists or sample documents for waiver requests.
b. USARCG will process all waivers in accordance with the waiver processing table on the USAREC website. https://recruiting.army.mil/ISO/AWOR/WAIVERS_ETP/
c. All waiver requests must be approved by the approval authority prior to the board. Ensure to allow enough time to process each type of waiver.
11. Post Board.
a. USARCG will provide USARD with the approved OML for MILPER message publication. The OML is not for publication.
b. Notifications
(1) Human Resource Command (HRC) Reserve Personnel Management Directorate
(RPMD) Accessions notifies all selectees through release of MILPER.
(2) USARCG OA team notifies all non-select applicants.
c. HRC RPMD Accessions will submit applicants for scroll. Selectees must have a scroll approved before appointment.
d. After scrolling and appointment, United States Army Reserve Command
(USARC) Warrant Officer Initial Military Training (WOIMT) team schedules the candidate to attend Warrant Officer Candidate Course (WOCS) and Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC).
