S1NET Message Summary - 5/2/2024

1. SUSPENSION OF TEMPORARY PROMOTIONS AND SELECT/TRAIN/EDUCATE/PROMOTE POLICY, 2 MAY 24.  From the Army G-1:  This memorandum suspends the use of temporary promotions and modifies the requirement to complete a requisite level of professional military education (PME) to qualify for promotion to Master Sergeant and below. The Army's use of temporary promotions to Sergeant through Master Sergeant in support of the Army's STEP policy is suspended until further notice. When necessary, temporary promotions for pregnancy/postpartum will continue to follow established policy.  Effective with the June 2024 promotion month, I am exercising my authority to suspend the requirement to complete a requisite professional development course (AR 600-8-19, 1-34a), to qualify for promotion. Instead, the Army will use the NCO Professional Development System (NCOPDS) levels listed in the memo to qualify Soldiers for promotion. Soldiers previously promoted with a temporary promotion will not revert to their former grade and are considered promoted to their current grade without further conditions. No promotion order adjustments are required. https://www.milsuite.mil/book/docs/DOC-1320316

This is supposed to help Soldiers, S1s, and units review orders for accuracy once their local MPD has cut/approved the order. Orders Meta Data: Also attached is a screen shot that DFAS has been currently accepting of a Soldiers ACT approval line in the case that their assignment orders do not have a name line under "By Authority of Department of the Army". MPDs have the ability to correct this issue, but if they are not doing it in a timely manner for a Soldiers SMARTVoucher an S1 can provide the SM with this screen shot to submit along with the SMARTVoucher.” Contributed by SSG Michael Roman.  https://www.milsuite.mil/book/docs/DOC-1317607
