Farewell Message from the Under Secretary of the Army (PTDO)

To our Soldiers, Civilians and Families:

It has been an honor to serve as your Under Secretary of the Army (PTDO) over the past year, playing a small part in the amazing work you do every day for our Army. Next to being a husband and a father, this has been the greatest privilege of my life.  When I started my Army career as a GS-5 in 1989, I had no idea that I would, one day, have the honor of performing the duties of this office.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your dedication and willingness to support our Army.  Your collective expertise and vast years of experience are the foundation for the Army’s success to fight and win.  During these unprecedented times, you have tackled every challenge and answered the Nation’s call with the utmost professionalism. I am confident that our Army is stronger because of you.

I take great pride in the Army’s accomplishments over the past year.  Behind each of these accomplishments are hardworking Soldiers and Civilians that form cohesive teams to ensure our Army maintains pace with the evolving strategic environment.  We have made great strides to enhance the lines of communications across the Army, the Department of Defense, Congress, industry, and academia, all while prioritizing execution and affordability.  The end goal of these efforts is to enable our Soldiers to accomplish the mission and to safely return to their Families.

To our extraordinary Army Families, I salute you for the unwavering love and support you give our Soldiers and Civilians.  Thank you for always being in our corner.  Your commitment gives us the strength to do our very best every day.

It has been the ultimate privilege to be a part of the Army’s leadership team, but also, more importantly, to be a part of your squad. People First! Winning Matters!
