a. ARMY DIRECTIVE 2021-05, INTEGRATED DISABILITY EVALUATION SYSTEM, 16 MAR 21. To improve total force readiness and reduce the Army’s medically non-deployable population, the Department of Defense (DoD) implemented new timeliness goals for Soldier referrals through the Disability Evaluation System (DES).Commanders and leaders at all levels are responsible for individual Soldier readiness and will use all available tools, resources, and authorities to reduce the number of medically non-deployable Soldiers within their formations. This directive implements procedures for the disposition of Soldiers referred through the DES.
