Message to the Force on September 11

Soldiers, Civilians, Family members and Soldiers for Life:

Twenty years ago, the world as we knew it changed on 9/11. For those who lived through that day, the feelings of fear, pain, and anger will never be forgotten. Every September 11th since, we remember the acts of bravery and sheer determination that followed.

There are amazing stories of true courage, sacrifice, and commitment to preserve life, honor the fallen, and to defend our Nation and our American way of life. These stories inspired thousands of Americans to raise their right hand, and say "send me" during a time of war.

On this 9/11, we pay tribute to those who served, especially those who gave all, in defense of our Nation. We remember our Gold Star Families, and we honor them for their commitment and their sacrifice.

On behalf of a grateful Army and Nation, thank you. It is an honor to serve among heroes like you.

Letter to the Force - September 11th - 20 Year Anniversary

To the Soldiers, Airmen, and Families of the National Guard

There are nearly 3,000 names engraved in bronze at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.  They are firefighters and policemen, airline pilots and caterers, retirees and children, Soldiers and Sailors, and many others.  Their names represent the lives cut short by an unprecedented act of terror in our homeland.

It has been twenty years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.  It has been twenty years since sons, daughters, husbands, and wives called home for the last time to say—more than anything else— “I love you.”

As we remember, honor, and mourn those we lost, we must never forget the heroism and courage demonstrated that day.  The first responders who selflessly rushed into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon.  The ordinary men and women who came to the aid of others.  The courageous passengers of United flight 93 who fought back against their hijackers.

In our collective shock and grief, we grew stronger.  Countless Americans resolved to help in any way they could, from donating blood to joining our Armed Forces.  We vowed to never forget, and we have kept that promise.

The names engraved in bronze live on with the survivors they left behind, and in us.  They are an eternal part of our American story.  Today, we rededicate ourselves to the memory of those who served and sacrificed for the promise of a stronger America, and our promise to remain Always Ready, Always There.

Sincerely,

Filing APFT/ACFT in iPERMS - For S1

Attached you will find the new guidance on the Iperming of DA 705 and upcoming ACFT cards. As per the guidance sent by the G3 at the NGB level we will no longer Iperm these two documents. The naming conventions have been removed from Iperms so you will no longer find them if you try to Iperm these documents. From what it looks like this also includes the Iperming of the 5500, some of the full time tried and they were unable to find them naming convention in iperms.

We will verify with NGB and pass this information to all of you. As far as the documents that we have already iperm they are set to expire after their 5 year cycle therefore they will automatically expire and drop off from the Soldier’s record when that document reaches that date.

CNGB Message on Afghanistan

To the Soldiers, Airmen, and Families of the National Guard

Yesterday, the last of our service members in Afghanistan started their journey home. Our National Guard support to the military mission in Afghanistan is now complete. The past two decades have not been an easy chapter in our Nation's history, nor has it been without setbacks and sacrifices. The recent loss of thirteen of our brothers and sisters in arms is a stark and sharp reminder of all that military service entails, and the dangers inherent in our chosen profession. Yet despite these dangers, we step forward to serve this great Nation, holding our heads high.

We are forever grateful to the men and women who served in Afghanistan, and the families who supported them. We will continue to proudly wear the cloth of our nation, and remember the heroism and sacrifices made by so many, especially our Gold Star Families.

More than a generation of Americans fought so our Nation would not live in fear. We fought to bring hope and freedom to the people of Afghanistan. We fought to uphold our Nation's values and our American way of life. We did not choose these battles, but we fought them all the same. And we never lost sight of our duty as Citizen Soldiers and Airmen.

Our promise endures, "Always Ready, Always There!"

Sincerely,

Daniel R. Hokanson
