Commercial Virtual Remote will be decommissioned 15 June 2021

Hello CVR User-

BLUF: Commercial Virtual Remote will be decommissioned 15 June 2021. Please download data you need to retain by 2359 EDT 15 June 2021. DoD365 portal sites for individual tenants have been added to the CVR Hub.

OVERVIEW

This note is intended to help you prepare for DoD365 implementation. DoD365 is the department's overarching program to provide an enduring solution for on-site and remote office productivity and collaboration.

DoD365 is essentially a suite of Microsoft Office 365 applications plus key cybersecurity baseline features operating at an Impact Level 5 (IL5), allowing for greater use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). For more information on DoD365 capabilities visit https://dodtelework.sharepoint.com/sites/CVRHub/SitePages/DoD365-Capabilities-Overview.aspx.

DISA, U.S. Special Operations Command, and each service branch have established their own DoD365 "tenant" environments with different names and timelines for the implementation of features and capabilities embedded within the DoD365 environment. These timelines are based on individual requirements necessary to meet common cybersecurity and capability baselines to safeguard the DoD network infrastructure.

CVR will be decommissioned 15 June 2021. For user convenience, the CVR Program Management Office and DoD Chief Information Office have gathered information portal sites that are available for each tenant: https://dodtelework.sharepoint.com/sites/CVRHub/SitePages/Links-to-DoD365-Tenant-Portals.aspx. Please note that access to each portal is specific to that tenant's user group.

We are sending this information to you to:

  1. Remind you that after 15 June 2021 CVR will no longer be accessible.
  2. Give notice to transfer the data required for retention from CVR to an appropriate platform that supports the information security level of the data.
  3. Provide information about how to download and prepare for implementation to DoD365 or your organization's environment.

FUTURE WITH DOD365

When CVR sunsets, users in the DoD365 environment will have access to similar capabilities using government-furnished equipment (i.e., laptops, tablets, and phones).  Of note, certain capabilities may vary depending on their implementation timeline. This summer, the department expects to approve, implement and enable web-based access with a CAC authentication.

DATA TRANSFER GUIDANCE

You are responsible for downloading your data off the CVR platform by 2359 15 June, 2021, this includes calendar entries, chats, recordings, planner boards, files, etc. You are responsible for your data retention requirements. Instructions for how you can transfer data from the CVR platform are available on the CVR HUB:  https://dodtelework.sharepoint.com/sites/CVRHub/SitePages/Commercial-Virtual-Remote-(CVR)-User%E2%80%99s-Quick-Guide.aspx

What can you do to prep for sunset?

  1. Review your files and delete those you don't need to access after 15 June 2021.
  2. Begin saving data outside of CVR that you need to keep.
  3. If you have questions about preparing for your organization's implementation of DoD365 visit https://dodtelework.sharepoint.com/sites/CVRHub/ for more information.

Thanks for your support and cooperation.

Celebrating Pride Month

To the Soldiers and Airmen of the National Guard

Combat is the ultimate team sport; it takes a collection of skills, talents, and strengths.  But most of all, it takes people—extraordinary people of courage and character who are dedicated to the Constitution, and willing to make sacrifices in the service of our Nation.  This Pride Month, we honor the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI+) Soldiers and Airmen who strengthen our National Guard team.

It’s been ten years since Congress repealed the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which barred Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual service members from openly serving in the Armed Forces.  Its repeal signified three things that endure today: First, dishonesty has no place in our military culture.  Second, we honor the diversity of our workforce and the power that diversity provides.  Third—and most important—who someone is and whom they love has no bearing on their ability to serve our Nation.

It doesn’t matter if we’re flying sorties in the Middle East, or filling sandbags in the Midwest—our success depends on our strength as a team and our ability to work together.  Our success depends on our people.  We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQI+ service members, and commit to an organization built on inclusion and dignity for all.  It’s what it means to serve with pride.

Sincerely,

Daniel R. Hokanson

Memorial Day Letter from CNGB

To the Soldiers and Airmen of the National Guard

On this Memorial Day, let us remember the men and women who gave their lives for our Nation.  Even though these heroes no longer walk among us, if you look closely, there are still signs of them everywhere.

We see the empty chair and the folded flag on the mantel.  We run our fingers over their names engraved on the bracelets we wear.  We see the tears of their loved ones and hear the prayers of their children.  We sit beside their headstones and share treasured moments from our lives.  We touch their favorite shirt, still hanging in the closet, the one we can’t get rid of, because it reminds us of them.

On this solemn and sacred day of remembrance, we stand beside our Gold Star families, joining them in mourning.  We think of our fallen colleagues, wishing we could share one more story, one more adventure, one more day.  We silently thank the generations before us who laid down their lives for our freedom, whose sacrifices shaped the history of the world.  We remember.  We grieve.  And we make a promise to never forget.

Everyone who wears the uniform of our Nation knows we may die in the line of duty, leaving our loved ones behind.  Yet we carry on this noblest responsibility for a cause and a concept greater than ourselves—the United States, its ideals, and its future.  We believe there is no greater honor.

On Memorial Day, let us remember the fallen and comfort the grieving.  May we always remember their courage and service, and lead lives worthy of their sacrifice.

Sincerely,

Daniel R. Hokanson

Chief, National Guard Bureau

Army 365 Account Activated

 Army CVR Users,

Congratulations! Army 365 account has been activated. What this means, is that you can log into your Army 365 account today. You can still use CVR until it decommissions on 15 JUN 2021, but have no access to UC IL5. User data and existing team structure will NOT be migrated, thus data backup is critical.

Reminders:

  • URL for Army 365 is https://dod.teams.microsoft.us/

  • Your new logon will be similar to your defense enterprise email logon first.MI.Lastname.mil/civ/ctr@army.mil. If you have a number after your name, that number will also be used.

  • The transition to Army 365 goes beyond Microsoft (MS) Teams application capability. It will enable user access to the latest MS Office applications via a web browser, grant 1TB of cloud storage on One Drive per user, and establishes the foundation for migration from existing Defense Enterprise Email (DEE).

  • Army 365 Tenant members can cross collaborate or participate in meetings with other IL5 Tenant users.

  • Currently, you will only be able to access the Army 365 Tenant from the DODIN or through a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) with CISCO AnyConnect Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection.

  • As a quick reminder, please save any important data or files. CVR users will still have access to CVR files until 15 June 2021.

Thank you for your support. For additional resources see the following SharePoint site:

 1. ARMY DISASTER PERSONNEL ACCOUNTABILITY AND ASSESSMENT SYSTEM (ADPAAS) PREPARATION FOR THE UPCOMING 2021 HURRICANE SEASON. June 1st is right around the corner, and that means the start of hurricane season. The 2020 season was an active and memorable season with 30 named storms that produced 13 hurricanes, including 6 major hurricanes. The ADPAAS program is only as good as the data that’s updated in it. The role of sponsors and CORs in updating their contact information and their family member’s information, and ensuring UIC alignments are correct is critical to the success of the ADPAAS disaster personnel accountability reporting to Army senior leaders. Visit the following link for more information. https://www.milsuite.mil/book/docs/DOC-814411
